The all-in-one Gear VR? Alcatel Vision runs on Exynos 7420

We didn’t know what kind of engine that the Alcatel Vision all-in-one VR headset was running on when TCL debuted it at IFA 2016. It was an octa-core chipset — obviously not a quad-core Snapdragon 820 — that didn’t have a name to it.

Well, Samsung has come out and said it all. The Vision runs on its workhorse Exynos 7420 chipset.

Somewhat ironic to see Samsung proudly boasting about Alcatel’s headset when its own Electronics division is working on an all-in-one VR headset of its own.
Another spec set we also got hold of? The screens. There are two 3.8-inch AMOLED units with listed resolution of 1080 x 1200. GSMArena believes that the vertical resolution is actually 1020, but 1020 is a fairly odd resolution in the computer world. Based on sample footage (see source link) we’ve seen from the headset, we’re inclined to believe the 1200 vertical figure.

We are still blind as to the pricing and availability of the Vision, but we’ll keep you informed once our eyes start opening.
